TSM 2.0 Group Import Strings: Materials

Been threatening to share my Trade Skill Master 2.0 import strings for a while so I finally got of my rear end and decided to make it a reality. As I have many strings, I have decided to split them into the sub sections, This post will give you the imports for what I call Materials, and I'll deal with them purely in alphabetical order of my names.

The first is "Archaeology", this includes all of the keystones such as the Dwarf Rune Stone:
52843,63127,63128,64392,64394,64395,64396,64397,79868,79869,95373
Next up is "Cloth" this includes bolts of cloth as well as the base item such as Runecloth and Bolt of Runecloth:
14047,14256,21840,21877,24271,2589,2592,33470,41510,41511,4306,4338,4339,53010,53643,72988,82441
My "CraftingSpecials" contains items that are used in craft but don't fall into any other category, (e.g. Shadow Silk)
10285,11382,12804,12809,12811,13422,13926,14227,15409,17010,17011,17056,17202,17203,21881,23572,30183,31080,3182,32428,34249,40199,42253,43102,4337,4402,45087,47556,49908,52078,5373,5500,5635,6358,6359,6530,69237,7077,7079,71998,7971,80433,814,83064,94289

Lastly is the group I call "Vendor" which covers all sorts of random stuff that is used by professions (e.g. Pink Dye), you're unlucky to stumble across these items on the AH but if you see them and see others making coin from them why not try your luck.

That finishes the first batch of my import strings. I don't claim these lists to be perfect and they don't all include every item possible but if they are not, they are missing very few items. If you find an incorrectly placed or missing item, please feel free to comment below.

Sunday Screenshot #19

Sometimes real life can be cruel and recently it seems to have conspired to throw everything at me which has resulted in less than optimal time in WoW and almost crippled my blogging for the past 2 weeks. Then this week TSM2 got launched and that has devoured a huge amount of time learning that and then setting it up 3 times (long boring story I won't tell yet).

The good news there though i that the 3rd incarnation of my set up is far superior the the first 2 and worlds ahead of the TSM1 set up. Rather than risk having to spend a 4th period of 3 hours setting up TSM, I decided to back up all my groups and fortunately that will give me a lot of content to provide through the blog so the exercise wasn't a complete waste.

A quick plug for Sapu and his team over at TradeSkillMaster.com and the Consortium Forums who deserve a huge thank you from everyone that uses or has used TSM. If you're not a user and are heavily into gold making using your professions then you really should give it a look. I won't lie, the learning curve is steep but there are many fantastic guides out there in the community. Below is a few I have used this week after discovering them on the Consortium forum's "Read First" post:

Cloth Farming

Recently a forum post on our guild website prompted me to put together a short guide to farming cloth and rather than let it fester there I thought I'd share it here.

In my experience, farming cloth is often the best option because it is often very expensives, particularly Frostweave and Embersilk. Therefore, the profits on crafted items, the cost of leveling kits and the cost of your own power leveling  make buying cloth inefficient. Therefore farming is needed. But where do you farm the cloth you need?

With the advent of cross realm zones, the best spots are often being used by levelers and we don't want to upset them by running in and AoEing down half the zone and steal their kills or let them steal ours!

Therefore I prefer to hit an instance of the appropriate level un til I have hit the 5 instances per hour cap when I will go and farm the world area, respecting any levelers in the area, until my cap has reset. My recommended farming spots are below.

Linen Cloth
Level : 5-15
Instance: Deadmines
World: Gnolls in Westfall

Wool Cloth
Level : 20-26
Instance: Stockades
World: undead in Raven Hill Crypts

Silk Cloth
Level : 33-38
Instance: Scarlet Monastery
World: cultists Eastern Plaguelands

Mageweave Cloth
Level : 40-48
Instance: Dire Maul North
World: ogres in Badlands

Runecloth
Level : 51-58
Instance: Blackrock Spire
World: undead Gilnaens in Blasted Lands

Netherweave Cloth
Level : 60-70
Instance: Shadow Labs
World: demon hunters on Black Temple roof (not the instance!)

Frostweave Cloth
Level : 70-80
Instance: Utgarde Keep/Pinnacle
World: Converted Heroes in Icecrown

Embersilk Cloth
Level : 80-85
Instance: Grim Batol (don't do the bombing run)
World: Tol Barad (anything except the spiders!)

Have you got better suggestions? If so I'd love to hear them.

20 Days of Gold Making: Day 20

20dogm20

Nev from Auction House Addict has created a community project for the gold makers among us 20 Days of Gold Making. You can find a list of all of the participants in this blog post at AH addict. The question I am covering today is:
Lets spread some blog love - which are your 'must read' or 'go to' gold blogs or even other places you go for information and reading matter?
I have hinted that part of being a successful gold maker in WoW is down to research and given a few hints as to my "go to" resources but to be honest I rarely do more than scan the headlines now as while the hot items may change the basic principles don't and I learned those a few years back when JMTC was at the bleeding edge of gold making advice which while it is still useful it isn't the same since Markco left. It is still worthwhile to keep informed especially in the few weeks either side of a patch though as it is all too easy to forget the basics and reading bogs will remind you of them.

Rather than show any real favoritism towards the blogs/info sources I am currently using, I'll list them alpha numerically:

Sadly, my 20 "days" are over, all my posts in this theme can be found here. I'd like to thank Nev for coming up with the initiative. I've had fun and it has certainly made me think a lot more since I joined the project on 28 January. I hope I have given you some new information or at worst reminded you of something.

20 Days of Gold Making: Day 19

20dogm-day19
Nev from Auction House Addict has created a community project for the gold makers among us 20 Days of Gold Making. You can find a list of all of the participants in this blog post at AH addict. The question I am covering today is:
Have you bought yourself anything really expensive as a reward for earning all that gold? Or do you have a self-present in mind for when you reach your goal?
I have used my gold for many "self-presents" these come in 3 categories pets, mounts and gear boosts (mainly for alts so I can raid with them).  Rather than waffle on about them I've posted pictures :)

20 Days of Gold Making: Day 18

20dogm18
Nev from Auction House Addict has created a community project for the gold makers among us 20 Days of Gold Making. You can find a list of all of the participants in this blog post at AH addict. The question I am covering today is:
What is the most important bit of advice you could give to a new gold maker? (not a game newbie though, just a newbie gold maker)
Unfortunately, I don't have a magic formula for making gold so there is no "I win" button likewise there isn't one way of making gold. However, there are lots of ways of losing gold which is ironically the key making gold. So I'll first cover the 5 most common ways in which you can lose gold.
  • Spending gold on armour and weapons while leveling;
  • Spending gold on enchants and gems while leveling;
  • Buying items from the auction house before checking WoWHead for where it is obtained;
  • Vendoring non gray items;
  • Listing items on the auction house for less than they vendor for;

Once you have stopped wasting gold you'll start to accumulate gold naturally while you quest (leveling or dailies), run dungeons or go about your daily business in game.

My next advice is to max out your professions, this may cost you gold but all professions can earn you gold so are always worth the investment. If you have no professions maxed consider taking jewelcrafting, enchanting or alchemy as these are the ones I find easiest to make gold with. However if your not gold rich don't take more than one on your character, take a complimentary one so jewelcrafting and mining, alchemy and herbalism or enchanting and tailoring. Doing this allow you to farm the low level mats (tailoring will need to farm low level dungeons for cloth to craft tailoring items to disenchant for mats) to level up the crafting profession. While this is time consuming it keeps your gold in your pocket.

jsBy now you should have a profession and some gold in your pocket and next comes a boring part as you need to step away from the game and go and do some research on the web. There are many blogs out there and rather than list them all here I'll give you a link to a directory that is maintained on the Power Word: Gold blog. Another useful resource are the Consortium Forums  but these can get rather complicated for new people.

My next tip is, think lazy. I make a ton of gold from people being lazy. I regularly sell Tome of Clear Mind for 10g even though I buy my stock from the one of the 200 vendors that sell them for 40-50s depending on faction standing. I also perform the same trick with many other vendor items especially during world events such as Ice Cold Milk during  Winter Veil as this is needed to make Santa's Egg Nog!

Being lazy is also something you should not be unless it saves you gold in the form of time, confused? Let me explain. Sometimes you'll need an item that is a pain in the rear to obtain as it can only be farmed in hard to get to places and has a reasonably low drop rate but can be bought on the auction house for a few hundred gold. You need to determine if it is worth buying the item from the auction house or farming it yourself by calculating how long it would take to earn the gold another way in the time you guesstimate that it would take to farm. More often than not simply doing a few dailies or running an old low level dungeon/raid will earn you the gold it costs.

Which leads me to my final tip. Farm old dungeons and raids. It is fun, can get you transmog sets and there is a ton of gold that drops in both cloth, items and coin.

TL:DR version:
  • Don't waste gold;
  • Use your professions;
  • Prey on the lazy;
  • Don't be lazy;
  • Remember time IS money;
  • Farm old content for fun and profit;
If you found this post useful (or a load of old twaddle) please leave a comment below.

20 Days of Gold Making: Day 17

20dogm-day17

Nev from Auction House Addict has created a community project for the gold makers among us 20 Days of Gold Making. You can find a list of all of the participants in this blog post at AH addict. The question I am covering today is:
Pets - Did you used to do the Vendor pet sales? How have pet battles changed things for you?
Pet battles really hasn't changed my pet selling strategy much because I never bothered with selling them as a defined plan.

Sure if I ran into Lil' Timmy I would mug the White Kitten from him and slap it on the AH but beyond the I'm in the area I'll buy pets I never tried hard although I did trade a Mekgineer's Chopper for the Hyacinth Macaw a few months before Mists launched in the hope of making a killing but despite pricing between 16000 and 40000 gold never got anyone wanting to buy it so I ended up adding it to my pet list just before Christmas, maybe I'll level it to 24 and then try to sell it again.

I tried selling pets at the beginning of the expansion but the market was really flooded at the time and nothing sold so I abandoned it. I have considered leveling pets to 24 and selling them so people can easily get them to 25 and add to their collections, but as leveling a pet is real easy once you have one at level 25 and you now also get XP I'm not sure how successful that will be. I guess only time will tell.

20 Days of Gold Making: Day 16

20dogm-day16

Nev from Auction House Addict has created a community project for the gold makers among us 20 Days of Gold Making. You can find a list of all of the participants in this blog post at AH addict. The question I am covering today is:
Flipping! Do you flip stuff regularly or sometimes? Big ticket items or smaller high volume stuff?
Flipping is something that I have done almost continually during my warcraft life. I have never really had a strategy but rather simply bought items that are way below market value when I myself am trying to list the same item.

Most of the time this is low cost high volume goods like enchanting materials, ore, herbs and transmog items. I will sometimes venture into higher price goods but am always a bit cautious not to get caught out. I have recently been tempted to try flipping some of the ridiculously cheap Jewelled Onyx Panther mounts that are being offered up for 30-40k gold, which is less than the cost of the materials but am concerned that these may be duped items or from hacked accounts and don't want to get caught up in any fallout and have therefore always refrained from buying them.

Most of the time flipping is a winner but I have made many mistakes, my most recent one being purchasing greater cosmic essences at the end of Cata when they were regularly selling for 10-15g and seeing them as an opportunity when they dropped to 7g. I bought them in bulk and I bought a lot of them as the price continued to rop in the last few weeks of Cata with the hope of flipping them in Mists. Today they selling for 2-3g I maybe sold 5% of what I bought, I trashed the vast majority of the rest and today I try to sell the remaining 30 stacks at rices between 2-5g depending on supply at the time I list them but I am frequently violently undercut, so I guess I'm not the only one that had the same idea. but auction house pvp is a game with risks, if it were not it wouldn't be as much fun or as rewarding.

20 Days of Gold Making: Day 15

20dogm-day15

Nev from Auction House Addict has created a community project for the gold makers among us 20 Days of Gold Making. You can find a list of all of the participants in this blog post at AH addict. The question I am covering today is:
Professions - do you have all of them, some or none? Which is your favorite for goldmaking?
As an OCD completionist I have had all primary professions on each of my characters maxed out since before I was interested in making gold as a subset of my WoW focused activities. I do have at least one of each primary profession and have always tried to RP a little with professions so each class has a profession that fits the nature of the class although I do have one odd ball, my rogue. The secondary professions are the bane of my life, each of my characters has a minimum of 525 fishing, cooking and first aid and only archaeology eludes me as a profession I am keen to level up on all characters (coming in Mists I promise).

My primary professions by class are:

  • Deathknight: Miner and Skinner.
  • Druid: Miner and Herbalist.
  • Hunter: Herbalist and Skinner.
  • Mage: Alchemist (potions) and Tailor.
  • Monk: Herbalist and Miner.
  • Paladin: Scribe and Miner.
  • Priest: Alchemist (transmute) and Enchanter.
  • Rogue: Blacksmith and Leatherworker.
  • Shaman: Alchemist (flask) and Herbalist.
  • Warlock: Engineer and Jeweller.
  • Warroir: Miner and Skinner.

So as you can see all the bases are covered. My favourite profession is fishing because it is the most relaxing and can be done easily while chatting with guildies on vent. It is also the best profession to actively farm on as you can stay in a small area and simply fish pools or if you're after no fish in particular you can stand in one spot and not move for weeks! Wrath was great for this when fishing for feasts in Wintergrasp.

The best profession for making gold is jewelcrafting. Alkways a demand and the predictable weekly patterns of cheap mats at the weekend followed by high demand (and high prices) midweek when all the raiding happens is just perfect.

20 Days of Gold Making: Day 14

20dogm-day14

Nev from Auction House Addict has created a community project for the gold makers among us 20 Days of Gold Making. You can find a list of all of the participants in this blog post at AH addict. The question I am covering today is:
How much of your playtime is devoted to gold making? Do you raid/pvp/pet battle too or is the AH your main playtime?
As regular readers will know, not all of my playtime is devoted to gold making, in fact a relatively small proportion of my playtime is centered around gold making because to be honest I'm having too much fun with everything else.

On an average day I spend 30 minutes of my time centred around gold making, but I do play way too much. Some days I spend a lot more but this tends to be afk crafting while I'm doing other things around the house or on the PC, in fact I've probably afk for as much as 30-50% of my /played time since Wrath.

However, I am still active a lot which allows me to level alts, raid, feed my personal transmog and achievement addiction as well as the new pet battle thing which is far too addictive for someone like me to play casually (damn you Blizzard!).

Warcraft is such a vast and varied game that anyone can find a niche playstyle within it and there truly is something for everyone. Likewise even for the OCD completionist like me there is always that one part that doesn't appeal and for me that is PVP because I suck at PVP and really find it no fun unless running with friends/guildies.

20 Days of Gold Making: Day 13

20dogm-day13

Nev from Auction House Addict has created a community project for the gold makers among us 20 Days of Gold Making. You can find a list of all of the participants in this blog post at AH addict. The question I am covering today is:
What was your biggest 'Yay!' moment?
This was a real tough one to choose as I have not had one outstanding moment of gold making joy but many.

My first 1000g was good, my first 1000g profit was better, my first big flip was not bad either. Purchasing my Tundra Mammoth in the first weeks of Wrath, getting all my alts 310% flight as they logged on in Cataclysm, my Grand Expedition Yak in the first few days of MoP were all bloody good moments too.

The biggest 'yay!' moment that generated a lot of gold though has to be discovering the WoW gold community. Prior to discovering this I was soloing the gold game and blissfully unaware of many of the techniques, espeically the Saronite Shuffle.

My initial source was Just My Two Copper which at the time was an awesome source of information and had a great author who was a great character. Sadly he no longer runs the site and has left the Warcraft community as he is now involved in the Diablo 3 community. It was through this site that I discovered all of the blogs and the Consortium.

20 Days of Gold Making: Day 12

20dogm12

Nev from Auction House Addict has created a community project for the gold makers among us 20 Days of Gold Making. You can find a list of all of the participants in this blog post at AH addict. The question I am covering today is:
What was your biggest 'oops' moment?
My biggest 'oops' is an easy one. Back in Cataclysm I was selling Lil Timmy's White Kitten. After bumping into Lil Timmy unplanned. I had tried selling it Alliance side for 500g for a few weeks without any luck and then via the neutral auction house for a few more weeks, using the remote AH. After so much activity and being teh only seller I decided to hold back for a week or so. After a while I decided to go get some cats of the Crazy Cat Lady outside Stormwind and had forgotten that I had the White Kitten and promptly put it up for sale along with the much more common cats which were selling for 50g.

However I only found this out because a fellow gold maker on my server had spotted this as an obvious mistake and had not only bought it but also mailed it me CoD for 100g, which I duly paid up as I was so relieved not to have missed out on a bigger profit.

Since that time I have started using Trade Skill Master and have the cats on auto pricing and therefore the mistake won't happen again, assuming my rules are set up correctly of course.

20 Days of Gold Making: Day 11

20dogm11

Nev from Auction House Addict has created a community project for the gold makers among us 20 Days of Gold Making. You can find a list of all of the participants in this blog post at AH addict. The question I am covering today is:
Most of us use Trade Skill Master, Auctioneer and/or Auctionator in combo with Postal - are there any other lesser known gold making addons you use?
There are many addons that assist the gold making process. Most of these are widely used and provide a wide range of benefits mostly assisting in saving time or providing snippets of information so we don't need to make the effort. Besides those posed by Nev in the question above, things like Altoholic, Sell Junk, Gatherer, Lil Sparky's Workshop and MogIt all provide assistance in their own way.

However, there is only one addon I use, that I consider lesser known simply because I have not seen it advertised by the popular gold making sources. Like most of my favourite addons this is small and simple requiring no configuration or maintenance. It doesn't try to provide more than one feature and end up a piece of bloatware.

What is it? Let me introduce to you One Click Enchant Scroll, which simply provides a button in your tradeskill window to directly create enchantment scrolls and also displays the number of enchanting vellums in your inventory on it.

A comment on the Curse page in 2011 suggest this isn't compatible with Skillet, but as I don't use this I couldn't confirm that this is still the case.

20 Days of Gold Making: Day 10

20dogm10

Nev from Auction House Addict has created a community project for the gold makers among us 20 Days of Gold Making. You can find a list of all of the participants in this blog post at AH addict. The question I am covering today is:
Do you farm materials? Why? Why not? Which ones, Where?
Many people farm materials from around the world of Azeroth, herbs, ore and skins are the obvious ones as they have professions associated with them. There are also items like cloth that can be farmed indirectly by killing hostile NPCs out in the world too. Farming is a time consuming thing and involves moving around the map to known spawn points and gathering or killing. It is a great source of gold but the gold per hour isn't great and for that reason I prefer not to farm in the traditional MMO sense. I prefer to farm my mats on the Auction House.

Gathering can be done quickly and at most times cheap enough to make the financial outlay outweigh the loss of time. However, there are times when farming the Auction House isn't viable either because the mats are not there or too expensive, which often means they are in short supply. Then you have to go out and farm yourself.

A recent example of this is when I was levelling my 3rd alchemist. Most low level herbs were freely available for less than a gold per item, then I hit a wall. I needed 35x Goldthorn and the single stack of 20 on the Auction House was 500g (25g per herb!) which is just stupidly high and I am way too tight to spend that much and then have to farm the rest. I also needed 10x Wild Steelbloom and there were none on the Auction House. Fortuantely, my druid is a herbalist and as he can herb in flight form, I simply sent him out to Arathi Highlands to farm some herbs as both are prevalent in the zone. While I only needed 45 herbs in total I spent a good hour gathering herbs and ended up with 4 stacks of each herb, which after using what I needed for my alchemy levelling, I sold on the auction house at 10g per herb and made myself just under 1000g AND saved myself another 500g which made my low level farming session worth at least 1500g per hour. Not earth shattering I agree much better than losing gold!

Finally, I'd just like to apologise for publishing day 8 and 9 in reverse order,

20 Days of Gold Making: Day 8

20dogm-day8

Nev from Auction House Addict has created a community project for the gold makers among us 20 Days of Gold Making. You can find a list of all of the participants in this blog post at AH addict. The question I am covering today is:
Thinking back to day 2, did you ever reach your goal or are you still working towards it? If you reached it - have you set yourself a new one?
I already answered this one in the Day 2 post as I don't really set myself any goals, just use the gold as an enabler to allow me to be frivolous and buying mounts, pets and items to enable me to raid and as long as that can continue to happen I'm happy.

That said, I am still hoping to hit 1 million gold and hope to hit that figure before too long, the only obstacle in the way is selling my stock which seems to grow faster than I'm selling it. Damn them AH bargains!

A bit of a lame answer and a ridiculously short post (especially for me) I feel as if I am failing but with my recent posting schedule of 1 per day for the past 2 weeks I guess I can get away with one dodgy post ;p

20 Days of Gold Making: Day 9

20dogm-day9
Nev from Auction House Addict has created a community project for the gold makers among us 20 Days of Gold Making. You can find a list of all of the participants in this blog post at AH addict. The question I am covering today is:
What's your favorite niche market and why?
My favourite niche market is shirts. A lot of armour shows bare arms and sometimes that makes transmog sets look bad. Shirts will fill the gaps and can be used to mask the gaps by closely matching the colour of the transmog or to provide contrast to it. Either way players will pay good coin to achieve that "perfect" look. Some shirts sell a lot better than others and I'm not really sure why that is but the reason is irrelevant the investment for shirts is small and the returns range from 10g to 200g.

There a number of good things about the shirt market. The first is that the market has almost no competition  so the few of us that are in it do not need to price gouge each other so our returns are good. Then there is the fact that some shirts are rare patterns that are priced highly on the auction house so not many people will buy these rare patterns for something they see as a worthless item. The last thing about the market is that a few good sellers are simple vendor items that can be purchased relatively cheaply and flipped so you don't even need to hold stock.

There is a downside though as the number of purchases are low, a bad week will see zero sales a good week may see you hit double figures but then for the effort put in it is easy money.

However, I'm still missing the one true gem in the shirt market, the Rich Purple Shirt but at current AH prices it is simply not a viable proposition and I'm just hoping that one day I'll catch one cheaply on teh auction house, or maybe even try farming it from Dire Maul.....

20 Days of Gold Making: Day 7

20dogm-day7
Nev from Auction House Addict has created a community project for the gold makers among us 20 Days of Gold Making You can find a list of all of the participants in this blog post at AH addict. Today's question is:
If you were starting over again (maybe on a new server perhaps), how would you start building some capital  and what goal would you set yourself?
While I have recently settled in on a new server as part of my "Project Titan", what I did was to transfer an existing toon with a few thousand gold and just start reproducing the system I use with enchanting and jewelcrafting that earn me gold on my home server of Shadowsong, but that is not really in the spirit of the question so I'll not bore you with that.

Knowing what things are important in making gold certainly helps you on a new server and the three thing to remember is that many people are lazy, most are unaware of how the auction house charging works and many more unaware of the source of many items (or where to find out).

After rolling my toon I'll go and kill the local humanoids as these drop copper as well as armour and other assorted items and the copper is THE important thing here and as I need some cash to get started, I don't quest I kill them humanoids until I am level 5. By this time I'll have amassed a personal wealth of 20-30 silver from the killing spree and selling the drops.

I don't normally use Auctioneer, but on a new server and being cash starved means you can deploy the one awesome feature, the Appraiser feature (see here for a guide). This allows you to identify items that you can vendor for more than  they are being auctioned for, success will vary realm to realm but I have managed to turn a 50 silver pot into around 100g within 15 minutes of arriving at the auction house, though normal results tend to be between 25 and 50g. This should be enough to get you set up with some proper gold making and I usually continue from this point by learning mining and skinning or herbalism and selling everything I mine/skin/herb as I level.

20 Days of Gold Making: Day 6

Nev from Auction House Addict has created a community project for the gold makers among us 20 Days of Gold Making. You can find a list of all of the participants in this blog post at AH addict. The question I am covering today is:
Which market has made you the most gold over the years?
I have been actively generating gold all my WoW life and initially that started as simply auctioning off things I collected on my adventures through the game and that covered most of the first 4 years. I had become interested in the potential for making gold in Vanilla after hearing a podcast where the guy had been able to buy a friend an epic mount simply by controlling the herb and alchemy market by buying everything and listing it at high and varied price on  a few characters. I tried to emulate this but soon discovered that I had too little gold and that my alts naming convention gave the game away that it was the same person (all my toons ended in with the rather obvious "yxx" and became discouraged rather quickly and left the manipulation to the richer folks.

20 Days of Gold Making: Day 5

20dogm-day5

Nev from Auction House Addict has created a community project for the gold makers among us 20 Days of Gold Making You can find a list of all of the participants in this blog post at AH addict. Today's question is:
Do you keep the same banker alt or do you change them up occasionally? Why?
Wilkini_2007-10-18_0097A long. long time ago when Evlyxx was questing in Tanaris, bags were very expensive, flights only went one stop and there was only an Alliance Auction House in Ironforge. This meant that selling things on the Auction House was a very time consuming process. I was moaning about this and my WoW mentor of the time Kittiah, asked why I didn't have an alt character that I used as an auction monkey? I replied that it had never occured to me to do that and promptly created a 2nd human priest and Wilkini was born.

Eventually I found a need to level Wilkini and created a new auction monkey, a rogue named Bevlyxx (So named because she was the Bank of Evlyxx, no really), she too was levelled and eventually replaced by my warlock, Strigimaga who was originally rolled as a 19 twink but that ended when she too was levelled during Wrath and I then moved onto my death knight, Nobunaga who was rolled purely to experience the starting zone.

To this day he is my primary auction house character and he sells all the odds and ends that I gather on my travels around Azeroth, Pandaria and Outland as well as things like transmog gear and the items I flip from the auction house. My crafters look after their own auction house sales so he isn't my only "banker alt" but he is the one.

20 Days of Gold Making: Day 4

20dogm-day4

Nev from Auction House Addict has created a community project for the gold makers among us 20 Days of Gold Making You can find a list of all of the participants in this blog post at AH addict. Today's question is:
Do you use a banker alt/guild? When did you start doing that & why?
I have always had a bank alt, well at least since Evlyxx was level 40 something and questing in Tanaris as the auction house was all the way back in Ironforge and it was a pain in the butt to travel between teh two points. with single stop flight points and the boat between Menethil Harbor and Theramore. Eventually all my bank alts turned into normal alts and now they are all fully fledged alts with a minimum level of 85.

I did have a personal guild bank during Wrath and Cataclysm but due to my desire to have all my toons in the guild and the fact that I was not really utilising the guild bank itself I decided to sell the guild and just use my personal guild bank, It does mean I am restricted on storage space but it isn't causing me a major problem in the past 2 years so I can't see it causing a long term problem.

About the Author

By day I'm an IT Server analyst for a major telecoms compnay in the UK and I've been playing World of Warcraft since November 2005 when a pair of colleagues bullied me into playing! I have evolved into a raider (summer 2006), an auction house wheeler dealer (2007), a guild officer (2007), an altoholic (2008), a raid leader (2008), a Warcraft blogger (2010) and a PVPer (2012)

My main has, and always will be Evlyxx, a priest and I love to heal. I started as Holy in vanilla, dabbled with the shadow side during the middle part of Burning Crusade, before returning to Holy but I have been mostly Discipline since mid-Wrath.
