Looking For Dungeon a New Twist

A busy day in Orgrimmar
A busy day in town surely we can find something for these folks to do?
Ever wondered why running dungeons has become a clinical, interaction free, non social event if you use LFD and yet they are immense fun with guildies just like they used to be during TBC and vanilla even when pugging? Well I have and a thought occurred to me a few days ago while bored at work on my break. Why not try to get some Shadowsong EU residents to join me and my guildies in LFD if we can't get a full guild group?

A gnome, I'm starstruck by a gnome!

The Blog Azeroth shared topic for July 9 – July 15 was suggested by Dragonray from Azerothian Life:
Are you starstruck by anyone? Does someone in the community respond to a post or a tweet and get you all speechless because they actually responded? Is there anyone you are waiting to have respond directly to you? Is there someone that you would like to chat to, but are too chicken? Am I the only one who puts other bloggers on a pedestal?

Time for Pandacraft?

  • It will not be possible to access the 5.0.1 PTR realms with a game account that accesses the Mists of Pandaria Beta.
  • If a game account has been flagged with a Mists of Pandaria Beta license, it can only be used to enter Beta realms.
  • This limitation is on each World of Warcraft license, and is not Battle.net account-based.
  • While testing 5.0.1, players will not be able to access zones or content that is a part of the Mists of Pandaria expansion.
Thank you for your continued support of our testing and tuning process. We look forward to seeing you in-game.

This is good news. Unless you subbed up for the 12 month trial and got your guaranteed beta invite and does make me wonder how many of us who want to test the PTR have 2nd accounts to enable this. Hopefully enough s the PTR isn't too under subscribed that it last for more than the typical will last for 4-6 weeks.

This means that we can guess potential dates for the Pandacraft pre-patch of August 14/21/28 and using the usual 2 weeks between the pre-patch and expansion launch means we will all be "rolling" on our Pandas on Aug 28/Sept 4/Sept 11.

However, with Guild Wars 2 out on August 28th I don't think Blizzard will be cruel enough to go on that date and I'm not sure they will be prepared to launch on Sept 11 either because of the place that date has in the hearts of America. So my money is on September 4th, although that will upset me greatly as I doubt I will be able to get the time off work because I am on Olympic cover until September 9th  So I'm actually hoping for Sept 18th or later.

Blizz News: Account Wide Mounts

At this point, the only mounts that are not account-wide are either class specific or rewarded from PVP. We feel like both these types of mounts should still be character specific.

Thanks for your feedback on this issue!

Generally good news if you own the mounts although there is a downside if you sell the craftable mounts or own multiple copies across your toons.

Me? I'm a happy panda!

Pressure Cooking

A quick simple guide on power leveling cooking. With Pandacraft coming soon and cooking getting some buffs and specialties as well there is no reason for your main (or your alts) NOT to be maxed out. To avoid the rush, level up now.

Besides that cooking is a great way of making gold as you can often sell cooked meats and fish on teh AH for more gold than the cost of the raw materials.

The first part is the shopping list and consists of a the purchased recipes/ingredients needed to hit 525, the ingredients can be bought from the AH or if you're willing to level fishing at the same time you can fish them up yourself. In addition to using this list for leveling your cooking you can also use it to create a list fish to farm so you can sell them to all those lovely pandas when we get the new expansion too.

I am good to you folks aren't I?

The Alt Factory: Fingersmith

Primary role: Damage dealer
Birth Date: November 29th 2006

Rolled initially as a bank alt called Bevlyxx (Bank of Evlyxx) a female Night Elf rogue that I eventually leveled up to max level in Burning Crusade. I chose teh rogue to enable me to be able to unlock lock boxes only to discover that you only got level ups on lockpicking upto 5x your current level.

The rogue sat idle for the first half of Wrath and then I got bored and decided to level her up. I soon tired of teh female Night Elf bouncy jiggle thing and decided to race/sex change to a male gnome. The name Bevlyxx seemed a female name so I needed a new name and I opted for something rogue like and as I was playing with a South African went looking for a Afrikaans word, eventually opting for Moordenaar,  meaning assassin or murderer. I played him quite a bit and was permanently "harassed" by the many Dutch people I encountered on the EU servers who insisted on trying to speak with me in Dutch and eventually this became so frustrating I changed the name to Fingersmith soon after dinging 85. The name chosen because of its meaning, a person with any skill involving the use of hands, most often used to refer to a pickpocket who has never been caught.

He is my best pure DPSer and I always have fun playing with him and during my first visit to Molten Core on him while attempting to gather the Tier 1 rogue set I got the Bindings of the Windseeker from Baron Geddon which was upsetting as I was hoping to get Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker on my paladin but as soon as that dropped I stopped even trying on him. Last week I managed to get the other half from Garr and I am now the proud owner of a legendary!

Finally.....2/8HC in Dragon Soul

No corpse or chest but we DID kill HC Ultraxion, honest!
After almost 2 months of killing HC Morchok with ease the guys and gals of Exhumed finally added a 2nd HC boss to the list.

After a piss poor performance of button pressing at the right time by yours truly I finally managed to get it right (and deliver shocking DPS, man I should stick to healing) and we killed him.

Awesome work folks Yor'sahj is next!

Rares Farming For Transmog

Farming for transmog gear is a thankless task. There are a number of ways you can do this and none are efficient in terms of gold per hour, but there is a way you can do this relatively quickly especially if you have access to flight which is killing rares as almost all rares drop green items (or if you're lucky blue/purple gear).

But flying high above the crowds of mobs hoping to spot a rare spawn isn't easy, heck it is damned near impossible. Thankfully there is a tool that is perfect for the job, good old NPC Scan

Black Market Auction House 2

The commonly accepted reason for the appearance of the Black Market Auction House (BMAH) is that it will provide a money sink for all those rich players who have spent the past 7 years mastering the WoW Economy on their servers and have so much gold that if they want anything in game they can simply buy it and because of this players getting rare items sell things a super inflated prices like mounts for 200,000 gold and more. Heck on my home server a guild is selling boosts to HC Madness for 900,000 gold and people are paying it.

In my previous post, I discussed the BMAH and some concerns I had about it this time I'm going to look at the impact it will have on the prices on your local auction house. Hopefully you'll have read my last article so I won't repeat myself. If you didn't I'll cry but I'll give you a shot at redemption as you can go read it here! Even if the items are soul/account bound I don't think it will absorb the gold from the economy or lower regular AH prices

Black Market Auction House

Blizzard have placed a new auction house in teh Mists of Pandaria beta called the Black Market Auction House (BMAH) and it has generated a lot of talk around the WoW community around Blizzard's reasons for introducing and what impact it will have on the game, players and gold making in general. Today I'm going to give my thoughts on it as a feature and soon I'll follow this up with a look at how it will affect gold making.

So what exactly is it? Well it is an auction house just like the one you'll find in Stormwind or Orgrimmar but unlike those you'll not be able to post items there yourself but you will be able to bid on items that are posted on there by NPCs. Items that are appearing there in teh beta are rare mounts, impossible to get armor (like the original tier 3 from Naxxramas) and other hard/impossible to get items.

THE Boss

A recent post over on WoWInsider got me thinking about who I considered to be the most epic raid boss in WoW. I thought well that is too easy, it's .., and then it hit me it wasn't as clear cut as I thought. The boss had to have certain qualities, a good story, a good fight and more importantly good memories, which as I didn't complete all content in all expansions rules out some bosses/raid content.

So after some thought I came up with a short list and I eventually came up with a winner but it was so close I have made it into a top 5. I'm sure there will be some you disagree with but as this is MY list that is very obvious. and rather than just give a list I'll give you a little bit of my reasoning why I believe my list is right.

25% off everything!

This week sees the Dragon Soul nerf hit 25%. Will this be the last or will we get 5% each month until Pandacraft?

Yeah I know that we can turn off the buff but seriously does anyoine actually do that?

Head and Shoulders

Finally Evlyxx get back to posting! And today the news is awesome. For a long time I have despised head and shoulder enchants being tied to a faction and today I have just been catching up on the WoW news and found out this bombshell:
Head enchants are gone and shoulder enchants are now supplied by scribes!

About the Author

By day I'm an IT Server analyst for a major telecoms compnay in the UK and I've been playing World of Warcraft since November 2005 when a pair of colleagues bullied me into playing! I have evolved into a raider (summer 2006), an auction house wheeler dealer (2007), a guild officer (2007), an altoholic (2008), a raid leader (2008), a Warcraft blogger (2010) and a PVPer (2012)

My main has, and always will be Evlyxx, a priest and I love to heal. I started as Holy in vanilla, dabbled with the shadow side during the middle part of Burning Crusade, before returning to Holy but I have been mostly Discipline since mid-Wrath.
