Why I'm Glad Item Upgrades Are Being Removed In 5.2

no_more_valor_upgrades

Back in 5.1 we were given a new feature, upgrading gear from justice and valor points. Everybody loved it as it allowed key pieces of gear to be upgraded that were either already best in slot (BiS) or impossible to replace given your individual gear progression.

That will all change in 5.2 though as Blizzard have decided that thee upgrades are only to be available in patches where there is no additinal raid content, if they even reintroduce it, this has sparked a lot of discussion particularly the other night in Exhumed's guild chat, so I decided to have a deeper think and post my thoughts here.

Head and Shoulders

Finally Evlyxx get back to posting! And today the news is awesome. For a long time I have despised head and shoulder enchants being tied to a faction and today I have just been catching up on the WoW news and found out this bombshell:
Head enchants are gone and shoulder enchants are now supplied by scribes!

Priesting 101: Enchanting Your Gear

Following on from my guide on Gemming Your Gear, I thought I would move on to enchanting, the other more "traditional" way of improving the stats on your character and their gear. If you're not an enchanter there are 2 ways of getting an item enchanted, the traditional way was to find an enchanter, give them the required materials (either bought from the auction house or acquired through using the disenchant option during dungeon runs), "trade" the item in the "not to be traded" slot let them use their profession spell to enchant your item and you're done (although I'd always offer a tip even if they don't ask). However, since Wrath of the Lich King, it has been possible to enchant vellums into scrolls which can be sold on the Auction House so it may be worth buying a scroll from there and selling your materials. To transfer the enchant from the scroll simply right click the vellum and left click on the item you want enchanted. Simples! as the cool kids say now.

Lightning and Lava - Restoration Glyphs, Gems and stats

Just a quick plug for a new blog I discovered by accident today. The content is something I was going to cover this weekend after a TS discussion with a guildy who is new to the cloth. Andreas over at Lightning and Lava, has made a fine post from a resto shaman point of view and the majority of what he has said holds true for us priests and I see no point in re-inventing the wheel. So take a quick read of his post at Lightning and Lava - Restoration Glyphs, Gems and stats.

About the Author

By day I'm an IT Server analyst for a major telecoms compnay in the UK and I've been playing World of Warcraft since November 2005 when a pair of colleagues bullied me into playing! I have evolved into a raider (summer 2006), an auction house wheeler dealer (2007), a guild officer (2007), an altoholic (2008), a raid leader (2008), a Warcraft blogger (2010) and a PVPer (2012)

My main has, and always will be Evlyxx, a priest and I love to heal. I started as Holy in vanilla, dabbled with the shadow side during the middle part of Burning Crusade, before returning to Holy but I have been mostly Discipline since mid-Wrath.
