The Blog Azeroth shared topic for July 23 – July 29 was suggested by Frinka from Warcraft Street:
Have you ever tried to introduce real life friends to WoW? If yes, how did it go? If you never have, why not?
My introduction was from a RL friend (/hi Matt) and I told that story back in the very beginning of this blog, but that is not the theme of the discussion so I'll move on. I have only introduced one RL "friend" to WoW and that was my son, who 6 years ago just wanted to play the game that I was playing.
Initially this was a toon on my accoount, a warrior he named after himself and he levelled his warrior up to around 40 very slowly and even then I had helped along the way. Then he lost interest in WoW until the end of TBC when he decided to play again. As I was playing more at that point it became a bit of a pain for us both but we worked around it for a while then set him his own account up and for a while played together and as he couldn't play his warrior on my account at the same time as I was we levelled 2 hunters together at weekends which was fun and frustrating because he wasn't "as pro" as I was.
He lost interest again early Wrath and that was that until Cata came out when he wanted to play again which he did for a whole month and as yet he still doesn't have an 85! The bizarre thing is while writing this post he has today said, "Daaaad, can you start my account up again I want to play Waraft again as CoD is boring" He didn't, as far as I'm aware even realise what I was writing about. Spooky!
